  • Colin has been teaching piano to my teenage daughter Lucy for 2 years now. His teaching style is relaxed and he has certainly inspired Lucy to consider different genres of music. This has definately inspired her and she is incredibly motivated. Her confidence has blossomed due to Colin's re-assuring manner. I would definately recommend Colin to anyone.

  • Colin is truly the best piano teacher I have ever come across (and I have come across a few)! He has taught my daughter for the past two and a half years, and she really enjoys her lessons. Colin's kind and gentle manner makes for a relaxed and happy atmosphere to learn in. He is friendly, approachable and gives plenty of praise and encouragement (very important for children, especially). My daughter comes away from her lessons feeling confident about her strengths, yet also clear on where she needs to put extra efforts in. I can't recommend Colin highly enough! Sadly, we are moving away soon, so will no longer have the pleasure of Colin's teaching. I can't see us finding anyone anywhere near as good. A real loss for us....but at least it makes room for someone new to have the pleasure of his teaching!

  • Colin is a gifted and talented piano player as well as a really good teacher. He understands that people learn in different ways and adapts himself to make sure that the pupil is happy. He is a friendly, punctual teacher and I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

  • I too have lessons from Colin, although I am rather older than his star pupil in the video! Colin is as good at teaching adults as children, encouraging and helping to bring out the best in his students.

  • I have been having piano lessons with Colin for a couple of years now, I enjoy every one, and look forward to the next. Colin is able to find out what I don't know, and explain it in such an encouraging and kind way. I had piano lessons as a child, got as far as Grade III and then gave up. If only Colin had been around then! I now enjoy playing the piano and am amazed to find myself playing higher grade pieces now.

  • Colin is a gifted teacher and wonderful pianist. I gave up playing the piano in my teens and have now (in my mid thirties!) been having regular lessons with Colin for about 2 years. I am not ‘oh so’ far away from taking Grade 8... Colin has had to be very patient with me and gentle in his teaching methods. Always punctual, friendly and re-assuring - I would recommend Colin to anyone considering lessons from complete beginner to advanced.

  • I loved learning piano in my own home, on my own instrument, as a youngster. I think it's fabulous that you're willing and able to travel to people's homes. I would love to have you teach me electronic keyboard after teaching another family member piano. Your polite manners teach the proper way to dialogue, and remove all anxiety. Can I hire you to give driving lessons, too? Having followed your work on YouTube, and knowing your repertoire to include nearly every style of music, I can only say America's loss is the U.K.'s gain because there's no one I would prefer to study music with more than you, Mr Mitchell.
